The Quality Assurance (QA) process systematically ensures that products or services meet established quality standards throughout their entire lifecycle. It involves a series of planned and systematic activities that aim to prevent defects, verify adherence to specifications, and continuously improve processes. Here's an overview of the key steps in a typical QA process:
Quality Planning
The process begins with quality planning, where project objectives and quality standards are defined. This phase involves identifying the project's scope, determining quality requirements, and establishing metrics to measure success.
Execution of the Plan
Once the quality plan is in place, the next step is to execute it. This involves implementing the defined processes, procedures, and standards to ensure the project or product is developed or delivered by the established quality criteria.
Quality Control
Quality control is a critical component of the QA process. It involves monitoring and evaluating activities and outputs to verify that they meet specified requirements. This may include inspections, reviews, and testing to identify and correct defects or deviations from standards.
Data Collection and Analysis
QA processes involve collecting and analyzing relevant data to assess the effectiveness of quality control measures. This data-driven approach helps identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
Feedback and Continuous Improvement
QA is an iterative process that relies on feedback loops. The insights gained from data analysis and quality control activities are used to implement corrective and preventive actions. Continuous improvement is a fundamental principle, ensuring that the QA process evolves over time to address changing requirements and industry standards.
Documentation
Comprehensive documentation is a key aspect of QA processes. This includes recording quality standards, plans, procedures, and the results of quality control activities. Documentation is a reference for stakeholders and provides transparency into the QA efforts.

I’ve been using ComplianceQuest (CQ) for about 9 months and am extremely pleased with the product, the implementation team and ongoing support.
I selected CQ for a number of reasons. Functionality and a simple user interface were key requirements. CQ has all the functionality needed in support of a global QMS. Implementation includes; Document control, change order, personnel training, NC/CAPA, equipment management, supplier management, audit management, and customer complaints all on a single platform. As a small biologics company it was critical to find a single solution to meet our GMP quality system requirements. We wanted a cloud-based system, that would be quick to implement, that could be expanded globally and in other languages, all for a reasonable price. The user interface – it is exactly what I was hoping for. I constantly hear the staff saying, “I love CQ, it’s so straightforward to use”.

Quality Management is a comprehensive organizational approach encompassing planning, implementation, and monitoring of quality policies to meet customer requirements. It includes quality assurance, quality control, and continuous improvement.
Here is a brief clarification on the differences between quality management and quality assurance
Quality Assurance, on the other hand, is a specific component of quality management focused on preventing defects through systematic processes and audits. It ensures adherence to established quality standards, emphasizing proactive measures to avoid issues.
While quality management addresses the entire quality framework, quality assurance specifically targets processes and procedures to guarantee that products or services meet predefined criteria, contributing to the overall effectiveness of quality management within an organization.
ComplianceQuest runs natively on Salesforce, meaning all NC workflow logic executes within a single transactional boundary. Apex triggers fire on every NC state transition, enforcing field-level locking through profile-based Field Level Security, only the currently responsible function can edit designated fields. Salesforce's optimistic locking model rejects conflicting concurrent writes at commit time without holding database row locks, preserving throughput. Non-blocking operations like notifications and downstream CAPA creation execute asynchronously via Queueable Apex, keeping the primary transaction fast under peak load. Native Field History Tracking captures every change in a tamper-evident, time-stamped audit trail satisfying 21 CFR Part 11 requirements automatically.
CQ.AI ingests unstructured PMS data such as complaint narratives, MDR reports, field service notes, applying Named Entity Recognition to extract structured signals: product, failure mode, and observed harm. It then performs semantic similarity matching using vector embeddings, finding equivalent FMEA failure modes even when field phrasing differs from documented terminology. When matched, CQ.AI evaluates whether event frequency warrants updating the Occurrence score within the RPN formula. If projected RPN crosses a defined threshold, it automatically initiates a Risk Management File review and triggers a CAPA directly satisfying ISO 14971:2019 Clause 10's requirement for PMS data to continuously update risk estimates.
ComplianceQuest's Managed Package architecture separates the Salesforce Core platform from the CQ application layer, clearly bounding validation scope for every update. Each release triggers a Change Impact Assessment categorizing changes by risk where no-impact updates require only documentation review; changes affecting critical validated functions require sandbox regression testing before production deployment. This aligns directly with FDA's CSA guidance: risk-proportionate validation effort rather than blanket requalification. Post-update, CQ.AI monitors critical function performance metrics such audit trail generation, e-signature completion rates, flagging behavioral anomalies between formal validation events.
At CAPA creation, before containment is finalized, CQ.AI computes a risk score from historical recurrence rate, event severity, product regulatory class, customer impact, and regulatory signal patterns. This score immediately drives conditional routing via Salesforce Flow across four tiers: standard, elevated, priority, and executive, each with defined team composition, required RCA tools, and resolution targets. Every AI routing decision is fully documented in the CAPA audit trail including score, contributing factors, and outcome. Quality managers can override at any time with a documented reason, ensuring the right resources engage from day one rather than after escalation delays.
When an ECO is approved in PLM, it triggers an event via REST API or MuleSoft into ComplianceQuest, automatically initiating the quality-side change workflow. CQ traces the full BOM parent-child hierarchy, mapping every affected assembly to linked quality records — documents, FMEAs, control plans, and PPAP requirements. The sync is genuinely bi-directional: document approval releases the ECO quality hold in PLM; training completion updates implementation readiness; PPAP approval activates the part master in ERP. Conflict detection flags parallel change streams updating the same document simultaneously, preventing undocumented revision discrepancies and ensuring no ECO reaches production before quality controls are fully updated.
ComplianceQuest automates red rabbit test scheduling within production inspection workflows. Quality engineers configure which poka-yoke devices require verification, test frequency per control plan, defect sample definitions, and responsible operators while the system auto-generates tasks at configured intervals with supervisor escalation for missed completions. Execution is guided digitally with structured pass/fail capture and photo evidence, time-stamped under authenticated user IDs. On test failure, CQ automatically locks the inspection station, initiates an NC and CAPA, notifies quality engineering, and flags retroactive inspection scope. Corporate dashboards display real-time error-proofing compliance rates across all sites, directly satisfying IATF 16949 Clause 10.2.4 requirements.
