Several businesses establish quality standards for their products and services based on the quality management framework provided by ISO 9001. A globally recognized standard, the ISO guidelines are used by organizations to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve their Quality Management System (QMS). This helps ensure the delivery of products and services with consistent quality and performance, to ensure customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance. ISO 9001 is based on seven quality management principles, and it aims to help organizations be more efficient, monitor and improve processes, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction. Businesses use a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) operating cycle for the continuous improvement of processes.
The ISO framework is applicable across industries and organization types, but each organization must evaluate its needs to identify the relevant features that meet its quality goals and objectives. The process must be designed to overcome any resistance to change within the organization to ensure the adoption and sustainability of the quality management processes.
