Madeline Kemper’s journey into quality and compliance began from the operational side of the business, working closely with documentation, audits, and day-to-day quality processes.
Starting as a Quality Specialist, Madeline gradually expanded her role into document control before moving deeper into compliance and CAPA management. That hands-on experience gave her direct insight into how disconnected systems and manual workflows can slow down quality operations across an organization.
Before the organization modernized its quality environment, many quality activities were managed across separate platforms and workflows.
Documents, training, approvals, and tracking activities often required coordination between multiple teams and systems. Managing updates and ensuring training completion involved significant manual effort and limited visibility across processes.
“We used to have to control the document, send it to training, have training create the course, and then assign it,” Madeline explains. “Depending on workload, that process could take up to a month.”
As Mercalis and PharmaCord came together to form Valeris, the organization recognized the need for a more connected and scalable quality environment capable of supporting growing operational complexity.
For Madeline, one of the biggest improvements in the organization’s transformation journey was the ability to centralize quality activities into a single connected platform.
“Everything is all in one now,” she says. “We can control documents, manage training, track completion, and work through CAPAs all within the same system.”
That shift significantly improved visibility, accessibility, and efficiency across quality operations.
Employees gained broader access to controlled documentation, while training and compliance activities became easier to manage and track within one environment.
“Now everybody has access to the documents,” Madeline says. “People can actually find what they need and work more efficiently.”
Today, much of Madeline’s work focuses on CAPA management, where she has seen major improvements in investigation capabilities, process consistency, and reporting visibility.
Teams can conduct more structured investigations, document findings more effectively, and maintain stronger oversight across quality processes.
“We can really explain things and work things out way better than we could before,” she explains.
As AI and automation continue shaping the future of quality management, Madeline believes organizations should embrace technologies that help streamline operations and reduce repetitive administrative work.
“I think AI really helps streamline the process,” she says. “It takes repetitive work out of everyday tasks and helps things move faster.”
For Madeline, one of the most valuable aspects of a modern quality environment is adaptability and flexibility.
“The system is so customizable,” she says. “We can really tweak it to work the way we need it to.”
That flexibility continues to shape how she approaches quality operations today — focusing on building connected processes that improve visibility, simplify workflows, and help teams operate more effectively together.
