Be Curious and Discover Before Reacting: How Ekaterina Pobuda is Powering a New Era of Quality at Florence Healthcare

In the world of life sciences, where precision, safety, and speed intersect, quality professionals often find themselves at the center of important transformation. For Ekaterina Pobuda, Senior Quality Systems Manager at Florence Healthcare, that center is exactly where she thrives.

Ekaterina’s journey spans medical devices, contract manufacturing, healthcare robotics, and clinical trial enablement software. Throughout her career, she developed a unique mix of engineering discipline, systems thinking, and a deep interest in improving processes using technology.

Her experience exposed her to the full spectrum of quality systems, from small startups to large pharmaceutical and medical device organizations. Along the way she learned the complexities of both hardware and software environments and built a strong understanding of regulatory expectations across different industries.

This broad foundation became essential when she joined Florence Healthcare. The company was transitioning away from spreadsheets, and disconnected tools. Ekaterina arrived just as the ComplianceQuest implementation began, and she quickly became a key contributor to the project.

“I joined right as the implementation kicked off,” she recalls. “Our goal was to build a centralized system where documents, training, audits, CAPAs, and everything else connected. And we wanted people to actually use it, understand it, and trust it.”

With her engineering mindset and systems experience, Ekaterina played a central role in configuring and refining modules for Documents, Training, Nonconformance, CAPA, Audits, and Management Reviews. Her work ensured that the platform was ready to scale with Florence’s rapid growth.

Her philosophy about quality can be summarized in a simple approach that she learned early on in her career and references often. Be curious and discover before reacting. To Ekaterina, quality is a mindset that begins with understanding before judging.

“Before assuming a problem is caused by a person, I look at the process. What happened? What is not working? And how can we make it better?” she explains.

This mindset shaped the way Florence conducts investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. One of her favorite capabilities within ComplianceQuest is the 5 Whys tool, which provides a clear visual connection between symptoms, root causes, and corrective actions. It encourages collaborative problem solving rather than blame.

Under her guidance, Florence improved audit readiness, strengthened its internal quality reviews, and increased visibility across the organization. Training completion rates reached one hundred percent. More importantly, nonconformance reports began to surface voluntarily from teams rather than being prompted by the Quality group. The culture matured from compliance driven to improvement minded.

For Ekaterina, this transformation is only the beginning. She believes the future of quality is incredibly exciting, supported by new technologies, better integration across systems, and more intelligent tools that help teams make faster and more accurate decisions. All of this, she notes, supports the ultimate goal of better patient outcomes.

Although she is highly process oriented, it is her belief in partnership that defines her approach. Quality, she says, should serve as a supportive and collaborative function rather than a policing one.

“We can help companies understand new technologies. We can help implement them. We can use them to improve processes and ultimately support better patient outcomes,” she says.

Her advice to rising quality professionals reflects her own path. Do not hesitate to step out of your comfort zone. Every time she challenged herself to learn a new skill or operate in a new environment, she grew significantly. Mentors encouraged her to stretch, and she encourages others to do the same.

Thoughtful. Inquisitive. System driven. Supportive.

This is the combination that defines Ekaterina Pobuda.

And at Florence Healthcare, it is helping to shape a stronger, smarter, and more collaborative culture of quality.
